High Temperature Surfaces
In the thick of the constant rush during day-to-day operations, your staff may accidentally touch the surfaces of equipment with high temperatures. Adding a barrier such as our custom removable insulation blankets between equipment with high temperature surfaces drastically reduces the risk of burns. Equipment such as steam pipes and steam traps may also be a high-risk area for employees.
Noise Reduction
Depending on the industry you operate within, your employees may work in an exceedingly loud environment with a possible risk of noise-induced hearing loss. For internal machinery, prolonged exposure to sounds that are 85 dBA or greater may cause hearing loss. Companies also have sound commitments to the city they operate in as well. For external machinery, municipal bylaws states that continuous sounds cannot exceed 65 decibels (dBA) or 50 decibels (dBA) for more than an hour during daytime and nighttime respectively. Pipes and equipment that work at high temperatures radiate heat into the surrounding area, causing discomfort, exhaustion or dehydration in a fatiguing work environment. Insulating the problematic equipment results in a cooler ambient environment. Welding Blankets
SUM Ltd also offers welding blankets for various types of welding applications. These blankets can be draped over an area to create a curtain or well to contain slag, molten metal, or sparks. While a welding blanket’s main purpose is for welding, its heat resistant material, in some applications in combination with additional insulation, can act as a shield to protect against other heat-generating activities such as plasma cutting or metal grinding.
