What We Do
Sound Insulation
SUM Ltd manufactures flexible, custom removable insulation blankets for decibel transmission loss. SUM Ltd’s sound insulation blankets can cover a range of sounds between 250Hz and 5000Hz but are most effective between 315Hz and 1600Hz. Assembled with a combination of advantageous materials to absorb, damp and/or reflect sounds, SUM Ltd is confident our blankets can significantly reduce overall noise levels emitted. For example:
Commercial Buildings
Within mixed zones, machinery located externally may agitate neighbours like tenants or other companies. If your machinery is found to be too noisy, you may be subject to complaints and/or fines. Local bylaws dictate machines cannot exceed 65 decibels during the daytime for more than an hour. During nighttime, machinery cannot exceed 50 decibels for more than an hour.
Industrial Noise
Loud, continuous noises may also be a hazard to employees. Prolonged exposure to sounds greater than 85 decibels may cause permanent hearing loss. While employee personal protection equipment such as noise reduction earmuffs may be required in specific industries, it may be impractical for others. Using custom removable insulation blankets as a barrier for your equipment may be a more permanent solution to your noise issues.
Noise-emitting Instruments
Depending on your equipment and infrastructure, sound insulation may be a necessary solution to your operations. Some of the most common noise emitters include compressors, motors, generators, pumps, or vibrating equipment.
